Messiah has embarked on a process of becoming an active member of Reconciling in Christ (RIC) working for the full acceptance and radical inclusion of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions in the life of the church. Messiah has a very active Racial Justice Team which is involved in MOSES (Madison Organizing in Strength, Equality and Solidarity) whose mission is to promote criminal justice reform. The group is also involved in the South Central ELCA Synod Racial Justice programs. They offer book studies on racial justice topics and offer a lending library of racial justice books so members can read about issues of systemic racism. Messiah members volunteer to prepare and/or serve meals at Healing House and Triangle Community Ministries. Both service opportunities are held several times during the year. The food and supplies are paid for by Messiah. We also help with St. Stephen's Food Pantry and Second Harvest Food Program. Sign up on the kiosk to help or contact the office.
