Women's Ministry

We’re blessed with a vibrant Women’s Ministry at Messiah, offering a variety of opportunities for learning, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Whether you’re a long-time member or a friend stopping in, you are warmly welcome at any of our gatherings.

If you have questions about any of the offerings below, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to sharing these meaningful times of connection and reflection together.

Women’s Book Study - Beginning Thursday, January 8, 2026

We will begin reading and discussing Philip Yancey’s book, What’s So Amazing About Grace? In this book, Yancey explores the radical, unsettling, and life-changing nature of God’s grace. He contrasts grace with the judgmentalism, hypocrisy, and “ungrace” often found in the modern church. Yancey calls Christians to rediscover grace as the central message of Jesus — the kind of grace that welcomes prodigals, forgives enemies, and heals broken lives.

Our first session of this 8-week study will begin on Thursday, January 8th at 10:00.   We will meet for about an hour and a half to allow time for fellowship, prayer, and perhaps even a group song :)

Messiah typically purchases the books for the women’s study, with participants contributing a portion of the cost. If you plan to join this study, please let Pastor Renee Kiel or the church office know so we can order you a book.  You may email Pr. Renee using the button above.

Women's Ministry Conversation Group - monthly on the 3rd Thursday

Women’s Ministry Conversation Group meets December 18th at 10:30-12:00.

This is an informal conversation opportunity to discuss practical ways we live out our faith. Sometimes we have a topic chosen ahead of time such as an article or podcast to discuss, and sometimes we just open the floor to thoughts and discussion. The group is open to all women of Messiah and their friends.

Contact Pastor Renee Kiel for more information.

If you would like to receive email reminders of when the group meets, contact Pr. Renee to be added to the group.

Women's Winter Retreat at Fort Wilderness Resort

The women of Messiah are invited to join the women of St. Luke’s Lutheran (Middleton) for a Women’s Winter Retreat!

Who: Women of Messiah and St. Luke’s Lutheran
What: Women’s Winter Retreat
When: Friday, January 30 – Sunday, February 1
Where: Fort Wilderness Resort, Rhinelander, WI
Why: To praise God, grow in faith, renew friendships, make new friends, and enjoy time together

St. Luke’s has been holding this retreat for many years and return again and again—it’s clearly a joyful time of connection and renewal. They have asked me to lead the retreat program this year, and I told them I would be glad to if the women of Messiah could participate as well. Their response was an enthusiastic “Yes!”
