Care Ministries
Messiah has three types of Care Ministries. These volunteers visit members in their homes, assisted living facilities or long term care facilities.
They act as representatives of the Messiah congregation to the person they are visiting.
Visitation Ministry Team
Every month, a member of our Visitation Ministry team goes to people in our congregation who cannot make it to church, whether it be for medical issues, mobility changes, driving capabilities, or another reason. The team member brings with them conversation, devotion, treats, communion, and a whole lot of love!
Once a year, all of our Visitation Ministry Team members gather for a morning retreat and workshop to welcome new members, hear each other's stories, and learn even more ways from each other how we can be God’s presence for those we visit. As of our last retreat, we have over 35 members involved with our Visitation Team.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry group meets once a month to make prayer shawls.
Shawls are provided to the Messiah community for the newly baptized, high school seniors, and for the visitation ministry to bring to homebound and hospitalized members.
The ministry extends its reach outside Messiah to those experiencing challenging situations to know that our community cares and prays for them. Recent recipients include Elizabeth House, Triangle Community Ministry, Breast Cancer Recovery Retreats and Agrace Hospice.
New Member Visitation Team
Each time a person joins Messiah, a member of the New Member Visitation team visits their home. The visitor brings the new member a welcome bag. They answers any questions the new members have regarding groups and activities at Messiah.
